To tackle the growing incidence of anaemia among women, the Ghaziabad Health Department is set to introduce AI-enabled screening machines across the district. The department has requested 20 such machines from an NGO through CSR funding, District Surveillance Officer Dr RK Gupta confirmed.
In the first phase, these machines will be installed at 20 health centres, including the CHCs in Dasna, Muradnagar, Modinagar, Bamheta, and Bhojpur, along with 13 Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHCs). One machine will also be set up at the 50-bed Combined Hospital in Loni.

The AI-based devices will allow instant anaemia testing, enabling rapid assessment of haemoglobin levels, iron deficiency, and associated risks. This swift diagnosis will help health workers begin treatment immediately, ensuring the timely distribution of iron supplements and other medicines.
Anaemia, primarily caused by iron deficiency, remains a major health concern, especially among pregnant women, adolescent girls, and children.

To procure the machines, estimated to cost Rs 44 lakh, the Health Department has written to the Project Manager of Bisnuli Sarvodaya Gramodyog Seva Sansthan.
