Six months after its inauguration by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Gorakhpur Development Authority (GDA) has taken over Naya Savera Phase-02, developed under the Ramgarh Tal beautification project. Following the handover, GDA Vice-Chairman Anand Vardhan conducted an on-site inspection along with senior officials.

With the takeover of Phase-02, the groundwork has been laid for the development of a 2,700-metre-long continuous lakefront by linking the 1,000-metre Naya Savera Phase-01 with the 1,700-metre Phase-02. Once completed, the lakefront will offer residents a new recreational space spanning more than 2.5 kilometres along the banks of Ramgarh Tal.

The project, executed by Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam (Urban) under the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Urban Development Project, was completed at Rs 35.43 crore. Designed with a focus on modern civic amenities and environmental conservation, the lakefront is expected to emerge as one of Gorakhpur’s key tourist attractions.

The development includes pedestrian and jogging tracks, ghats, an attractive fountain, decorative lighting, canopies, solar lights and a grand main entrance. The facility is expected to become a popular destination for morning and evening walkers, youth and tourists.

Before the handover, a joint team of engineers from Jal Nigam and GDA inspected the site and addressed all identified shortcomings. The team included Jal Nigam, Executive Engineer, Pankaj Kumar, GDA Chief Engineer (in charge), Kishan Singh and Executive Engineer Rakesh Pratap.
