Gorakhpur Infra Boost: Network Of 4-Lane Roads And Flyovers Set For Completion By March 2026

A network of four-lane roads and flyovers is set to emerge in Gorakhpur, with nine key infrastructure projects scheduled for completion by March 2026. These projects, including four flyovers, have been expedited under the Chief Minister's direct supervision and will significantly ease traffic flow within the city.

As the new year approaches, Gorakhpur is set to witness a major transformation in its infrastructure. A vast network of four-lane roads and flyovers will emerge across the city, with nine significant road projects and four flyovers scheduled for completion by March 2026.

According to officials, the pace of construction has accelerated significantly due to the direct monitoring of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. All related projects are now in their final stages and are expected to ease both internal and external traffic congestion within the next four months.

Major Road Projects

Among the key highlights is the Nausad to Padleganj road, which will become the city’s first six-lane road. Approximately 94 per cent of the work on this 5.10 km route (Cost: Rs 297.29 crore) is complete, with a target date of March 2026.

The Deoria Bypass will be the first of the four-lane projects to open. Work on this 9.50 km stretch (Cost: Rs 399.24 crore) is 95 per cent complete and is targeted for January 2026. Other significant road upgrades include:

Padleganj to Betiahata (via FiraqGorakhpuri Chowk): The 1.80 km stretch is being widened at a cost of Rs 277.78 crore.

  • Target: March 2026.

Bhathat to Banssthan: This 11.60 km road, crucial for connectivity to Ayush University, is being converted to four lanes at a cost of Rs 689.35 crore.

  • Target: March 2026.

District Jail Bypass: Physical progress on this 8.56 km road (Cost: Rs 369.04 crore) stands at 96 per cent.

  • Target: March 2026.

Flyover Completions

Four major flyovers are also on track for completion by March 2026:

Khajanchi Intersection: 98.84 per cent complete.

  • Cost: Rs 96.50 crore.
  • Target: January 2026.

Bargadwa-Nakaha Jungle (Level Crossing 5A): 97 per cent complete.

  • Cost: Rs 152.19 crore.
  • Target: January 2026.

Nausad-Padleganj (Six-Lane Flyover): Includes the Deoria Bypass connector. 80 per cent complete.

  • Cost: Rs 429.49 crore.
  • Target: January 2026.

Chauri Chaura-Bhopa Bazaar (Level Crossing 147B): 98 per cent complete.

  • Cost: Rs 49.22 crore.
  • Target: February 2026.

Implementing Agencies

The Public Works Department (PWD) Provincial Division is handling the Deoria Bypass, while Construction Division Three is executing the remaining road projects.
