In a shocking case of dowry harassment, a woman was allegedly beaten and thrown out of her matrimonial home for failing to meet demands for a Toyota Fortuner car and an additional Rs 51 lakh in cash. The victim, suffering from severe mental distress due to the alleged torture, is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital. Following her complaint, the police have registered a case against four people, including her husband.

Lavish Wedding Turned Nightmare

The victim, Nishu, daughter of Babu Ram from Habibpur village, was married to Siddharth, a resident of Agahpur village in Sector-39, Noida, on December 6, 2024.

Initial Dowry: According to the complaint, Nishu's father spent approximately Rs 1.5 crore on the wedding, fulfilling all agreed-upon conditions for gifts and dowry.

New Demands: Immediately after the wedding, the husband, mother-in-law, and father-in-law allegedly began demanding a luxury SUV (Fortuner) and an additional Rs 51 lakh.

Pattern Of Harassment

When Nishu's family expressed their inability to meet these new demands, the in-laws allegedly began to harass and physically assault her.

Previous Compromise: When the victim initially reported the matter to her father, he tried to placate her due to social concerns. The issue eventually reached the police station, where the husband and in-laws admitted their fault, and a compromise was reached.

Escalation: Despite the compromise, the harassment resumed. In March, the accused allegedly beat Nishu and threw her out of the house, threatening to kill her if she returned without the demanded items.
