A 70-year-old ex-serviceman died allegedly due to medical negligence during treatment at an illegal hospital operating within the 'Life Medicare Medical Store' near Bhagwanpur Chauraha in PPganj on Friday. The incident sparked outrage among the victim's relatives, who created a commotion and vandalised the premises, breaking a CCTV camera.

The Incident

The deceased was identified as Shyam Lal Yadav, a resident of Bharwal village in the PPganj area.

Timeline: He had fallen ill on Tuesday and was admitted to Life Medicare by his family.

Alleged Negligence: According to the deceased's brother, Devi Lal, the patient’s health was initially only slightly poor. However, his condition continuously deteriorated during treatment. On Thursday, as the situation worsened, the family requested the doctor's assistant to discharge the patient and refer him to a larger hospital, but the hospital administration allegedly refused.

Death: The patient passed away around 1:00 pm on Friday.

Aftermath And Investigation

Following the death, the police arrived at the scene, took custody of the body, and sent it for a post-mortem examination. A team from the health department also inspected the facility.

Unregistered Facility: District Health Education and Information Officer KN Barnwal and Dr. Vinod Kumar Verma from CHC Campierganj confirmed that the hospital was operating without registration.

Action Taken: A notice has been issued to the operator demanding a response within three days. Officials stated that the hospital was not sealed immediately because a family resides on the first floor of the building. Naib Tehsildar Prakash Singh was also present during the inspection.

Police Statement

Circle Officer (Campierganj) Anurag Singh stated that a formal complaint has not yet been received from the deceased's family. He assured that strict legal action will be taken once the complaint is filed.
