The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has provided relief to 13 allottees of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority’s (YEIDA) Mini Special Developed Zone (Mini SDZ) scheme by rejecting YEIDA’s demand for the payment of the difference amount.
The Mini SDZ scheme, launched in 2009 in Sector 17 under the institutional category, had allotted plots ranging from 25 to 250 acres. At the time, the prescribed allotment rate was Rs 2,670 per square metre, but YEIDA had approved the allotment at a lower rate of Rs 1,629 per square metre.
Following this, former YEIDA Chairman Prabhat Kumar ordered an investigation, and YEIDA subsequently issued notices to the allottees demanding the difference of Rs 1,041 per square metre. YEIDA had initially estimated a loss of Rs 6,000 crore, but the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) audit calculated the loss at Rs 3,842 per square metre, reporting a total loss of Rs 18,000 crore.
After the CAG report was tabled in the Legislative Assembly, it was referred to the PAC. The committee concluded that YEIDA’s demand for the difference amount was unjustified, marking a setback for the authority while offering relief to the allottees.
YEIDA CEO Rakesh Kumar Singh confirmed that the plots were allotted under the institutional category and that the PAC had rejected the demand for additional payment.
