Long queues of vehicles were witnessed near the Brajghat toll plaza on the Delhi-Lucknow Highway on Sunday as the combination of an auspicious wedding date and weekend return travel led to massive congestion. The toll plaza falls under the Garhmukteshwar police station area.

With it being the last day of the week and a favourable time for weddings, traffic volume surged as wedding processions and guests travelled through the route.

At the same time, professionals who had come home for the Saturday-Sunday break were heading back towards NCR for work on Monday. The heavy flow of vehicles caused movement to slow down significantly, and commuters took unusually long to cover short distances.

On receiving information about the jam, police personnel reached the spot and worked to ease the flow by organising vehicles into proper lanes.
