Indian Railways Changes Emergency Quota Application Timings; Check New Deadlines Effective Dec 22

Indian Railways has changed the booking process for trains scheduled between 10 pm and 12 am. Passengers must now apply for travel on these services by 9 am. This new rule, which comes into effect from the December 22, is intended to help passengers book their tickets in a timely manner.

Along with the changes to the timing of train reservation charts, the railway administration has also revised the deadlines for applying for the reservation quota.

For trains departing between 10:00 pm and 12:00 midnight, applications for the reservation quota must be submitted to the Commercial Department by 9:00 am on the same day.

For trains departing between 12:00 midnight and 10:00 am, applications must be submitted by 12:00 pm (noon) on the preceding day.

For trains running between 10:00 am and 10:00 pm, applications must be submitted by 3:00 PM on the preceding day.

Implementation And Chart Preparation

This new system will come into effect from December 22. Under this system, train reservation charts will be prepared at least ten hours in advance. In fact, the Railway Board has revised the timing for the preparation of the first reservation chart for trains across the Indian Railways network.

Specific Chart Timings

For trains departing between 5:00 am and 2:00 pm, the first reservation chart will be prepared on a priority basis at 8:00 pm the previous night. For trains departing between 2:00 pm and 12:00 midnight, as well as those departing by 5:00 am, the first reservation chart will be prepared on a priority basis at least ten hours in advance.

Official Directives

To implement this new system, the Board has issued the necessary guidelines by writing to all Principal Chief Commercial Managers (PCCMs) of Indian Railways and the Managing Director of the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS).
