In a stringent review of the Municipal Corporation's tax department on Friday, Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Gangwar took disciplinary action against several officials due to a significant shortfall in house tax collection. Expressing strong displeasure, the Commissioner noted that only Rs 28 crore had been collected in the first six months of the financial year, against an annual target of Rs 110 crore.

The review, held at the camp office, resulted in immediate actions against officials for negligence and poor performance:

Chief Tax Officer (CTO) SK Gautam is to be issued a show-cause notice. The Commissioner admonished him for failing to organise tax collection camps, ensure proper bill distribution, and complete self-assessment forms. The Additional Municipal Commissioner has been directed to issue the notice and inform the administration about the CTO's working style.

The salaries of Tax Superintendents Vinay Kumar and Atul Kumar have been withheld due to their failure to carry out their supervisory duties effectively.

Show-cause notices have been ordered for Revenue Inspectors Shyamveer and Krit Verma for their low collection figures against the targets set for them.

A one-day salary deduction was ordered for Revenue Inspectors Yogesh Chauhan, Neetu Pal, Ankush Kumar, Neeraj Kumar, and Tejpal who were found to have left the headquarters without approved leave.

Additionally, instructions were given to relieve Revenue Inspector Brajesh Kumar from his duties at the Municipal Corporation to facilitate his new posting at the Pilkhuwa Municipal Council.

To ensure immediate improvement, the Municipal Commissioner has mandated that the Chief Tax Officer conduct a ward-wise review of house tax collection, bill distribution, and the levying of taxes on new properties every evening. He issued a stern warning that any future laxity in collection will result in action against the responsible Revenue Inspector, and the administration will be promptly notified.
