The Uttar Pradesh government is set to begin the construction of the Kukrail Night Safari and Adventure Park in Lucknow next month. The project, with an estimated budget of over Rs 1,500 crore, will be developed in two phases, the state government announced. The project is expected to boost tourist footfall and help businesses in the region.
The first phase, costing Rs 631 crore, will commence in April and is expected to be completed within 24 months. Spanning 34.59 lakh square meters (855.07 acres) of the Kukrail forest, the night safari will include 38 animal enclosures featuring species like lions, tigers, leopards, bears, deer, reptiles and birds.
Phase-1 construction will include various facilities such as an amusement activity area, an administration block, a 7D theatre, an art gallery, and a grand entry gateway. Additionally, the project will feature a cafeteria, a veterinary hospital, and staff residential blocks to accommodate personnel working at the site.

What Is Night Safari?
A night safari is a guided nocturnal visit to a zoo or forest, allowing visitors to observe wildlife in their natural habitat after sunset. The concept originated with the Night Safari in Singapore, which opened in 1994. Night safaris require special permissions and trained guides for safe exploration.
In India, national parks like Pench, Panna and Tadoba offer night safaris in their buffer zones, where visitors can spot animals like wolves, jackals and spotted deer.
