Meerut Murder Case Update: Muskan Rastogi, the accused of murdering her husband with the help of her lover, has reportedly asked for the state's help in appointing a defense counsel for her as the family members are "upset" with her. She sought help from the government as her family members and relatives have denied helping her in the case.
Senior Jail Superintendent Viresh Raj Sharma on Saturday stated that both the accused are kept in two different barracks, adding that there is no contact between them, reported ANI. Sharma further informed that Rastogi told him that her family members have denied to fight her case. He further stated that the authorities will send a plea to the court to appoint a defense counsel.

"Yesterday, Muskan wanted to meet me, I called her. She said that her family is upset and won't fight her case. So, she be provided a government Defense counsel. We are sending a plea to the court because it is the right of the inmate," Sharma was quoted as saying by ANI.
While providing more details, the official stated that both the accused are also diagnosed with drug addiction issues, as they both have been demanding different forms of drugs. He further stated that they are also refusing to eat food, a common trait of the drug addicts. Sharma further said that both the accused are being treated for their withdrawal symptoms.
"We are trying to ensure that common inmates stay away from them and do not ask about their case again and again," Sharma added. Earlier, Rastogi's father stated that what his daughter did was against humanity and demanded capital punishment for her.
"The verdict, in this case, should come fast, and I don't want anything less than capital punishment for her. What she did is very wrong...my son-in-law should get justice," Rastogi's father was quoted as saying by ANI.
