In a significant relief for commuters, the traffic police have announced the restoration of earlier speed limits on six major routes, including the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, from Monday, following improvement in weather conditions.
The speed limits for light and heavy vehicles had been reduced on December 15, 2025, due to dense fog and poor visibility during the winter season. At the time, authorities lowered the maximum speed for light vehicles from 100 kmph to 75 kmph and for heavy vehicles from 80 kmph to 60 kmph on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway as a precautionary measure.
DCP Traffic Manisha Singh said that with weather conditions now improving and fog intensity declining, the earlier speed limits have been reinstated. Vehicles will now be allowed to operate at the original prescribed speeds on six routes, including the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway.
Officials stated that the temporary reduction was aimed at preventing accidents during low-visibility conditions. With visibility levels returning to normal, the revised order restoring previous speed norms has come into effect.
