The construction of the wildlife rescue centre for animals affected by the Noida International Airport is underway and is expected to be completed within the next five months, by February 2026. The facility is being developed by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) and will be operated by the Forest Department.
The establishment of the centre was recommended by the Wildlife Institute of India (WII) following a study on the airport's environmental impact. The study, conducted within a 10-kilometre radius, identified the presence of 258 blackbucks, 176 sarus cranes, and other wildlife, leading to proposals for their rehabilitation and conservation.
Project Details and Facilities
The rescue centre, being built near Rajpura village in Sector 17, has a budget of Rs 3.4 crore. It is spread across ten hectares of land, with five hectares allocated by YEIDA and the other five belonging to the Forest Department.
Construction: Permanent structures are being built on the land provided by YEIDA. This includes a medical centre, a treatment room, sheds, and living quarters for staff and a resident veterinarian.
Animal Housing: The adjacent five hectares of land from the Forest Department will be used to house the rescued animals in a natural environment.

Shailendra Bhatia, OSD of YEIDA and Nodal Officer for Noida International Airport Limited, confirmed that construction began in July after receiving approval from the Central Zoo Authority. He reiterated that the centre is being developed by YEIDA and will be handed over to the Forest Department for operations upon its completion in February.
