Construction of two crucial bridges in Retha, designed to provide direct access to the upcoming PM Textile Park in Malihabad, is now over 80 per cent complete. The project, expected to be operational by March 2026, will significantly ease travel for thousands of commuters and benefit several local villages.

Project Details And Progress

The Bridge Corporation (Setu Nigam) is constructing two parallel, 212-meter-long bridges over the Gomti river at a cost of approximately Rs 29 crore. A key feature of the design is that one bridge will be dedicated to entry and the other to exit, streamlining traffic flow. The bridges will connect Retha village to Kolwa village, providing a direct route to the textile park, which is located just nine kilometers away in Atari village. This will eliminate the current need for commuters to travel through the congested Jehta village route.

Engineers have set an official completion deadline of March 2026. However, given the rapid pace of work, the construction team is aiming to complete the project by December 2025, with finishing work scheduled to begin in January or February of 2026.

Supporting Infrastructure And Future Impact

To support the increased traffic, the Public Works Department (Lok Nirman Vibhag) is widening the connecting access road to four lanes, making it suitable for both light and heavy vehicles.
