Three teenagers were killed and two others were seriously injured after being hit by the Vande Bharat Express train on the Katihar-Jogbani railway line. The incident took place near the Jawanpur railway crossing in Kasba at approximately 5:00 am on Friday morning.

According to information received, the teenagers were returning from a Dussehra fair when they were struck by the train, which was traveling from Jogbani-Araria to Danapur-Patna. The two injured individuals have been admitted to the Medical College Hospital in Purnia for treatment.

The deceased and injured have been identified as residents of Chandpur Bhangaha, a village in the Banmankhi block of Purnia district. It is reported that they worked at a fox nut (makhana) factory in Purnia and had come to Kasba to see the fair. A mobile phone was also recovered from the scene of the accident.

Teams from the Kasba Police and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) have reached the site. The Railway Police confirmed that the families of the deceased have been notified. The bodies will be handed over to the families after a post-mortem examination is completed.
