Noida Techie Death: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has not yet interrogated the delivery boy who risked his life in an attempt to save 27-year-old software engineer Yuvraj Mehta, who drowned after his car fell into a water-filled pit in Noida Sector 150. This is despite the fact that he is considered the most crucial eyewitness in the incident, which took place on Saturday night.
According to a report by Jagran.com, the SIT has failed to record his statement even after three days, raising questions about the investigation and whether the delay is aimed at saving someone. Currently, the SIT is only speaking with the Noida Authority officials and the police officials.
The incident has also triggered a storm on social media, with many users blaming the alleged negligence of the police and the administration for Yuvraj Mehta’s death. It has been alleged that if the inquiry remains limited to officials, accurate information may not emerge, and that the true facts can only be established through eyewitness accounts.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Meerut on Thursday, and the SIT chief was with him during the programme. Later in the evening, the SIT team reached Gautam Buddha Nagar for the investigation and inspected the crime scene. Three days have already passed, and the report is scheduled to be submitted to the Chief Minister on the fifth day.
Fears That SIT Probe May Remain A Mere Formality
There is growing discussion among the public that the SIT investigation might end up being just a formality. Since the delivery boy who tried to save Yuvraj and other eyewitnesses has not been interrogated yet, doubts have begun to surface. Only they can reveal the truth about what actually happened on the spot and where the lapses occurred.
Concern Over Scapegoating Junior Officials
The issue of Yuvraj's death has grabbed attention across the country. People want strict action against those guilty, and all eyes are on the SIT investigation. However, there is a common apprehension that the blame will be shifted to junior officials to shield higher-ranking officers.
On the day of the incident, the DCP Greater Noida and ACP arrived around 1:15 AM, but it was already too late. No senior officer from the police or the Authority arrived promptly. Furthermore, no officer from the district administration visited the site for four days.

27-year-old software engineer Yuvraj Mehta's car plunged into a drain at the Sector 150 intersection, resulting in his death. The victim's family has alleged gross administrative negligence, claiming that timely intervention could have saved Yuvraj's life as he struggled in the water for nearly two hours.
"My son was struggling to save himself. My son was crying out for help, asking people to help him, but most of the crowd was just watching. Some people were making videos. My son struggled for two hours to save his life. The officials and staff present were unable to save him. They did not have any divers. There is negligence on the part of the administration in this entire matter," his father, Rajkumar Mehta, said.
The Uttar Pradesh government on Monday removed M Lokesh, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Noida and Managing Director of Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) and a further investigation underway.
