Himachal Pradesh Snowfall: A group of tourists found themselves stranded at Jalori Pass in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district after being caught off guard by a sudden and severe snowstorm. The tourists, who had been camping near the historic Raghupur Fort, were enjoying their trip when unexpected heavy snowfall and strong winds quickly turned dangerous, leaving them trapped in the remote area.

According to a report by jagran.com, the tourists reached out for help, sharing a video message to inform authorities of their situation. A local rescue team promptly set out for Raghupur Garh and successfully reached the stranded tourists. Thankfully, all the tourists were safely rescued, and efforts to bring them to a secure location are ongoing.

SDM Gohar, Sh. Laxman Singh Kanet, confirmed that all the tourists had been safely escorted to a secure area. He urged both locals and tourists to check the weather before travelling and to opt for safe places to rest during this adverse weather.

Fresh snowfall has begun in the capital city of Himachal Pradesh and the higher reaches of Chamba, Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti, Kangra, and the upper areas of Shimla and Kinnaur districts, while rain is being reported from other parts of Himachal Pradesh.

However, the snowfall has also made roads treacherous in several areas, including Manali, Jibhi Valley, Tirthan Valley, and Sainj Valley. Reduced visibility and slippery roads have raised concerns over accidents. Several connecting roads have been temporarily closed. In light of these conditions, local authorities, including the police, have issued advisories urging both residents and tourists to stay indoors or remain at hotels, avoiding unnecessary travel until the weather improves.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh alert for widespread snowfall and rainfall across Himachal Pradesh, warning of continued disruption to daily life as commuters face severe problems due to slippery roads, traffic jams, and fuel shortages.

From January 26-28, widespread rainfall and snowfall are expected to continue across Himachal Pradesh. Lahaul-Spiti, Chamba, Kinnaur, and Kullu districts are anticipated to receive heavy snowfall, prompting the IMD to issue an Orange Alert.
