The Supreme Court has issued a decision allowing victims of dog bites to become parties to an ongoing case. Under this ruling, victims will not be required to deposit any money to file an intervention application.
In contrast, the court has stipulated that dog lovers who wish to be heard in the case must deposit Rs 25,000. For NGOs, the required deposit has been set at Rs 200,000.
City Residents And Victims Respond
This decision comes amid reports of continuously increasing dog bite incidents in the city, particularly within housing societies, where dogs frequently bite and injure people, causing significant problems.
Reacting to the court's order, several dog bite victims have stated they are prepared to present their cases in the Supreme Court.
Nidhi Jha detailed a severe attack on her husband, who was "very badly injured by dogs." He had to undergo an operation on his hand, which involved inserting a plate for a broken bone, and he also received many stitches on his body. She noted he has not fully recovered since June and affirmed, "If necessary, my husband is ready to present his case in the Supreme Court. The problem with dogs must be solved."
Chintu, another victim who was bitten and injured, was seeking vaccination. He stated, "Incidents of dog bites are happening very frequently... If needed, I am also prepared to go to the Supreme Court regarding this issue."
Dharmendra called the Supreme Court's decision "good." He commented that the "problem of dogs in the city is continuously increasing" and confirmed, "I am also ready for this."

Udit, who was also bitten and injured, stated that the problem is "increasing significantly" and that "dog bite incidents are happening frequently." He holds the Municipal Corporation responsible for "not solving the problem" and has filed a complaint on an online portal. He declared he is "prepared to go from the municipal body to the Supreme Court" regarding the issue.
