Following the Pahalgam terror attack, Uttar Pradesh has initiated a new investigation targeting infiltrators in the state. Along with the search for Pakistani nationals, authorities have launched a fresh probe into the presence of Bangladeshi and Rohingya immigrants.

There has been a large-scale illegal infiltration of Bangladeshis and Rohingyas, with evidence suggesting that infiltration syndicates are receiving foreign funding aimed at weakening the country’s internal security.

Investigation agencies, including the ATS (Anti-Terrorist Squad) and STF (Special Task Force), have been activated to trace these infiltrators. Simultaneously, action against illegal constructions along the Nepal border districts has been intensified as part of the broader campaign.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued strict directives to prevent illegal infiltration and to take firm action against foreigners residing illegally in the state. Senior police officers have been instructed to conduct district-level investigations.

The largest concentration of suspected Bangladeshi and Rohingya infiltrators has been reported in Lucknow and Gautam Buddha Nagar. Significant numbers have also been found in cities like Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Meerut, Kanpur, Saharanpur, and Muzaffarnagar.

Earlier, the ATS had busted an infiltration syndicate, arresting more than a dozen individuals, including Abu Saleh—the mastermind and an NGO operator. Saleh was found providing shelter to illegal immigrants across different cities under a well-organised conspiracy. Investigations uncovered foreign funding of around Rs 20 crore routed through NGOs registered at a Delhi address to support the syndicate’s operations.

With fresh inputs, police have now restarted comprehensive investigations against suspected infiltrators across the state.
