In a bid to curb road accidents, the government is set to provide advanced training to officers and employees of the transport department. The Institute of Driving and Research (IDTR) in Harchandpur, Raebareli is being developed as a Center of Excellence for this purpose.
According to a directive from Transport Commissioner Brajesh Narayan Singh, a training cell has been formed under the chairmanship of the Additional Transport Commissioner (Administration). Fariduddin, the Divisional Transport Officer of Basti, has been appointed as the nodal officer for the initiative. The objective is to establish a permanent and modern training system for transport officers.
The Center of Excellence will focus on cutting-edge technology, data-driven policymaking, enforcement strategies, and e-governance. Special training programs will be conducted for officers at all levels, including RI, PTO, RTO, ARTO, DTC, and ATC. New recruits will undergo foundational training, while existing officers will receive refresher courses and specialised training at regular intervals.
The training curriculum will be designed based on state-specific requirements, national transport sector updates, and guidelines from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Additionally, global advancements in the transport sector will be incorporated, ensuring officers stay informed about international best practices.
A case study-based training model will be implemented to enhance practical understanding, equipping officers with the skills to formulate policies, enforce regulations, and address modern transport challenges. Training modules will cover road tax collection, permit systems, enforcement techniques, and modern traffic management systems, ultimately enhancing administrative efficiency.
Regional Manager RK Tripathi confirmed that all subordinate officers have been informed as per government directives.
