The Lekhpal Sangh has announced a phased agitation starting November 22 to press for a seven-point list of demands, which includes the introduction of a vehicle allowance. Speaking at a high-level meeting held in Alambagh on Thursday, the association's State President, Bhupinder Singh, stated that a memorandum addressing these issues has already been submitted to the Chief Secretary.

The association is demanding an increase in the stationery allowance provided to lekhpals (village revenue officers) and an upward revision of their pay scale. Other key demands include the creation of additional posts for Revenue Inspectors and Naib Tehsildars, amendments to service regulations, and changes to the transfer policy. The Sangh is also seeking official permission for lekhpals to use the designation of Deputy Revenue Inspector.

To highlight these grievances, the association has outlined a detailed schedule of protests. The agitation began on Thursday with lekhpals working while wearing black armbands. On December 8, members will submit memoranda to various MLAs and ministers. This will be followed by a protest on December 13, where lekhpals will wear black armbands during the Thana Samadhan Diwas (Police Station Grievance Redressal Day).

The protests are set to intensify later in the month. A sit-in demonstration is scheduled from 10 am to 4 pm on December 20, followed by another black armband protest on December 27. On December 30, all lekhpals will gather at their respective district headquarters for a day-long sit-in from 10 am to 4 pm. The agitation will conclude with the picketing of the Revenue Council on January 6.
