UP Civil Defence Mock Drill: The Civil Defence Department will conduct a statewide blackout mock drill across Uttar Pradesh on Friday evening to mark Uttar Pradesh Day 2026 and the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on January 23. The exercise will be held simultaneously in all 75 districts to assess emergency preparedness, including readiness for potential air attacks by a hostile country.

As per the administration’s announcement, a statewide mock drill will be conducted on Friday evening. Power supply will be suspended across Uttar Pradesh from 6:00 pm to 6:02 pm, during which all districts will experience a brief blackout. Air raid sirens will also be sounded as part of this pre-planned exercise.

Guidelines for the Public

Authorities have urged citizens not to panic, clarifying that this is only a mock drill. The exercise aims to assess preparedness and train both the public and administrative machinery to respond effectively in emergency situations.

Instructions given to senior officials

The Chief Secretary has asked the DGP, UP Power Corporation MD, Relief Commissioner, and other department officials to ensure all preparations are in place. District administrations, police, and disaster management teams have been directed to work in full coordination.

Purpose of the Drill

The mock drill will test the state’s civil defense, disaster management, and internal security readiness. It will evaluate the efficiency of the power system, communication networks, and administrative response during emergencies.

Mock Drill Rehearsal in Lucknow Today 

1. A rehearsal for the Uttar Pradesh mock drill was held in Lucknow on January 22 evening at the Lucknow Police Lines, simulating sudden chaos.

2. The scene included people in a park, a tea vendor at work, and a loud explosion signaling an air raid, injuring several with head, arm, and leg injuries.

3. The drill simulated multiple emergencies, including fires from bombs, people trapped in tall buildings, and a collapsed building.

4. Civil Defence, Disaster Management, SDRF, and NDRF teams participated, providing first aid, rescuing trapped individuals, and extinguishing fires.

5. Specific rescue actions included using safety nets for people in buildings and breaking a car window to save the driver.
