Bareilly News: In Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, a car plunged into the Ramganga river, resulting in the deaths of three individuals, including two brothers. The vehicle unknowingly drove onto an under-construction bridge. The driver, reportedly using Google Maps for navigation, failed to recognise the blocked road in time, causing the tragic incident.
The bridge, which had been damaged by heavy rains last year, was incomplete. Witnesses confirmed that the driver relied on Google Maps, which directed them toward the bridge obscured by darkness. The driver didn’t realise the road ended abruptly just 30 metres in.
On Sunday morning, locals from Allapur village, en route to their fields, noticed blood flowing in the river. Upon investigation, they found a submerged car with three people trapped inside. The police were immediately informed and authorities arrived at the scene.
The victims, identified as Kaushal and Vivek, were brothers from Farrukhabad, travelling with a friend from Ghaziabad. Reports suggest that the vehicle’s GPS guided them towards the bridge, which had been hidden in the dark.
Concerns have been raised about the lack of safety measures on the bridge. After half of it collapsed last year, a two-foot thick barrier was erected, but it eventually cracked and fell. New pillars are now under construction.
Officials are investigating the incident, with many questions left unanswered. Police confirmed that a seriously injured passenger indicated the use of Google Maps, which led to the tragic accident. Details regarding the third victim remain unverified.
