In yet another attempt to disturb the railways operations, miscreants placed iron rods on the railway line going to Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh. A passenger train was stopped following a collision of its engine with the iron rod as it passed on the route on Saturday night. The train left for its destination after the iron rod was removed from the route, and the Railway Protection Force and the police station were informed about the incident. 

Circle Officer of Pilibhit, Deepak Chaturvedi, said that police found an iron rod placed on the railway track near Lalauri Khera village. He further said that an investigation is ongoing in the case. "At around 9:30 pm (on Saturday) police found an iron rod placed on the railway track near Lalauri Khera village.. As a result, a passenger train was delayed for approximately four minutes. Investigation is ongoing," Chaturvedi was quoted as saying by PTI.

In a similar incident in Mengaluru last month, unknown miscreants allegedly placed the disturbing objects on the railway track that caused loud noises when two trains passed on them. The locals rushed towards the tracks near Thokkottu overbridge as they heard the noises. The railway police and the railway protection force team rushed to the spot after receiving complaints from the residents. They found some stones crushed by the side of the tracks and decided to enhance the night patrolling in the area.

D Vedavyas Kamath, Mangalore City South MLA, said that it was an attempt to derail trains and the Congress-led state government should take the matter seriously. "Recently, Pakistan-backed terrorist organisations have threatened to derail trains across India, with attempts reported in various parts of the country. Sleeper cells of terrorists are reportedly operating in the state, and illegal infiltrators from Pakistan and Bangladesh have been apprehended in the coastal and state regions, all indicating a coordinated threat. A thorough investigation should be conducted from all angles to bring those attempting such destructive acts to justice," Kamath was quoted as saying by the Deccan Herald.
