Under the Electricity Bill Relief Scheme, a total of 73,185 consumers have registered in the districts served by Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (PVVNL). In Meerut alone, 6,376 consumers have signed up for the scheme.
The first phase of the scheme, which runs from December 1 to 31, offers a 100 per cent discount on the surcharge and a 25 per cent discount on the principal electricity bill.

Consumers eligible for the scheme include LMV-1 (domestic) category consumers with a load of up to 2 kilowatts and LMV-2 (commercial) consumers with a 1-kilowatt load who have outstanding electricity bills.
PVVNL Managing Director Ravish Gupta has urged all eligible consumers to take advantage of the relief scheme. Director (Commerce) Sanjay Jain added that further information about the scheme can be obtained at the sub-divisional office or the helpdesk.
