Under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign for the electoral roll in UP, the Election Commission conducted a special drive on Sunday at all booths to receive claims and objections. During this special drive, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) read out the electoral roll at their respective booths.
Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa, along with other officials, inspected the special drive being conducted at polling stations in their respective districts. On Sunday evening, Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa observed the ongoing campaign at a polling booth in the Sahibabad assembly constituency of Ghaziabad.
He stated that claims and objections will be accepted until February 6. For the effective implementation of the campaign, officials from the Chief Electoral Officer's office, as well as administrative officials posted in the districts, monitored the process through field visits.
The arrangements at the polling stations were reviewed, and the quality of work being done by the BLOs was assessed. It was also ensured that BLOs were present at the scheduled time to read out the list to the voters.
Information about voters marked as deceased, shifted, absent, duplicate entries, or for other reasons is being shared clearly. The Chief Electoral Officer said that the SIR campaign is a significant effort to make the electoral roll as accurate, updated, and error-free as possible, so that no eligible voter is left out in a democracy.
He has appealed to all voters to check the electoral roll for their booth. If a name is not included or if there is any error, they should file claims and objections on time through Form-6, 7, or 8, either online or offline, so that the electoral roll can be made more reliable and robust.
