Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed officials to intensify efforts to connect the state’s youth with a technology-driven economy, emphasising that it remains one of the government’s top priorities. During a review meeting of the Information Technology and Electronics Department on Saturday, he said the startup ecosystem in Uttar Pradesh is expanding rapidly and must be further strengthened through improved training, testing and market linkage facilities.

The Chief Minister directed the development of experimental training models to bring more young people into the IT and ITeS sectors, along with enhanced collaboration with organisations such as Eon Reality. He also stressed the need for a simple, transparent and time-bound approval system for investors, adding that timely disbursal of incentives must be ensured through clear departmental accountability.

Officials were informed that Uttar Pradesh’s presence in startups, semiconductors, data centres and electronics manufacturing has grown significantly. Export figures reflect this progress: electronic product exports have risen from Rs 38.62 billion in 2017–18 to Rs 447.44 billion in 2024–25, while IT exports increased from Rs 557.11 billion to Rs 820.55 billion during the same period.

Under the Electronics Manufacturing Policy 2020, the state has received 67 investment proposals worth Rs 154.77 billion, with the potential to generate nearly 1.49 lakh jobs. Incentives totalling Rs 4.3 billion have been approved so far, with another 25 proposals expected to move forward by March 2026.

The Data Centre Policy has also attracted major investments exceeding Rs 213.42 billion from companies including the Hiranandani Group, NTT Global, Web Werks, Adani Enterprises and ST Telemedia, creating an estimated 10,000 jobs. Progress under the Startup Policy continues as well, with funds released for startup incentives increasing from Rs 27.4 million in 2021–22 to Rs 260 million by January this year.

The Chief Minister also directed officials to develop new land banks in Noida, Greater Noida and YEIDA, and instructed them to further strengthen the monitoring and utilisation framework for the state’s startup fund.
