Uttarakhand has commenced the procurement of paddy for the Kharif marketing year 2025-26 from October 1, following the release of the new procurement policy. Farmers can now sell their crops at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) set by the central government, with payments credited directly to their bank accounts within 48 to 72 hours.
The MSP for common paddy has been fixed at Rs 2,369 per quintal, while Grade A paddy is priced at Rs 2,389 per quintal. The state aims to procure around 2,25,000 metric tonnes of paddy through approximately 350 centres.

Meanwhile, the MSP for finger millet (mandua) has been set at Rs 4,886 per quintal, with procurement continuing until December 31, 2025. The State Cooperative Federation has been designated as the nodal agency, and 275 procurement centres will be established across the state, 120 in the Garhwal division and 155 in the Kumaon division.
Farmers must register to sell their crops, with facilities available through the departmental portal, Common Service Centres, cooperative societies, and gram panchayat-level camps. According to PS Pangti, Additional Commissioner of the Food and Civil Supplies Department, no farmer will be allowed to sell paddy or finger millet without registration.
Procurement centres will be set up in all districts and monitored by District Food Officers, Assistant Food Commissioners, and market committees. Special arrangements, including field-level quality testing, will be provided for women farmers and farmers with disabilities, and priority will be given to farmers registered in the previous year.
The centres will also provide facilities such as cleaning, sorting, weighing, sacks, drinking water, seating, sheds, first aid, and weighing machines. Payments for procured finger millet will be transferred directly to farmers’ accounts within a week.
