The calming breeze gently brushing against the face, sparkling stars in the sky and partner’s hand in hand, are some of the most romantic ways to spend quality time with loved ones for millions of people. Aiming to do something similar, a Bengaluru woman was also out on a walk with her boyfriend at around 10 PM. However, her ‘romantic walk’ turned into a nightmare after she was allegedly stopped by a police constable for ‘inappropriate behaviour’. The ‘inappropriate behaviour’ in question, as per the woman, was that the couple was simply holding hands. Taking to social media, the said woman narrated the ordeal she went through, as the police constable allegedly took her boyfriend to the police station.
As per her post, she claimed that the constable was threatening the duo, and ultimately let the boy go only after he gave him some money. What was even worse was that after half an hour or so, the girl was eve-teased by a random man on the road after she was asked to go alone by the police. As per the woman, the police hardly took any action over the matter. It goes without saying that her post went viral and left people triggered.
The post was shared on Reddit, by the Redditor ‘Charming-Dot3686’. The post read, “Literally the worst. I had utmost respect for them but today it's all gone. My boyfriend and I were holding hands and walking. That's all, just holding hands. It was 10 pm. A constable came in his two wheeler and stopped us. He started blaming us for behaviouring INAPPROPRIATELY! He started threatening us. He asked us to go to the police station with him.”
“Inspite of pleading him because he told he will involve our parents and stuff, he didn't let us go. Finally he let me go because I'm a girl and it was almost 10pm. He held onto my boyfriend. The police asked me to walk away and go home. I was walking home and suddenly just 30m away from the police a random guy comes in his two wheeler and tells me ‘Hello Darling’. That's it, I lost my shit and I was like ‘Kapaalakke hodithini Bolimagane’ (I will slap you a**hole),” the post further read.
“The worst part is, the police didn't do anything about this! But they created a whole scene for me holding my boyfriend's hand! Hypocrisy! Teasing a woman is fine but a woman holding her boyfriend's hand with her consent is NOT OKAY! Later they took money from my boyfriend and let him go. I've met really nice and kind policemen but the police I met today, they are the reason why people throw hate on Bangalore police,” it further added.

Taking to the comment section, people shared their take. “Please post this on Twitter and tag Bengaluru commissioner, we need to fight the fuck out of every shit,” a user said. “Lol, once I was lost and I saw a policeman standing, so I just approached him to ask directions. He sensed I was not from here so he said only Kannada, not English/Hindi. Since then I have 0 respect for the police,” added a second person.
