Bangladesh Election Results: Counting of votes is underway in Bangladesh after Thursday's 13th parliamentary election. The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), led by Tarique Rahman, son of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, appears poised for a landslide victory.
Reuters quoted a local TV as saying that the BNP has won 151 seats in the 300-member parliament while its candidates are leading in several other seats.

Voting ended at 4 pm, Indian time on Thursday in Bangladesh. Vote counting is ongoing after the election. According to estimates released around 5 am, Friday, the BNP-led alliance won 151 seats, while the Jamaat-led alliance won 43.
2. Voting Took Place In 299 Out Of 350 Seats
Voters cast their ballots for 299 seats in the Jatiya Sangsad in Thursday's election, for which the majority mark is 150. Voting was canceled in the Sherpur-3 constituency due to the death of a candidate. Fifty seats in the Jatiya Sangsad are reserved for women, and their election is based on party representation in the 300 general seats.

3. First Election In Bangladesh Without Sheikh Hasina
