The former Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson is facing renewed attention after reports claimed she met convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein twice in 2009. The meetings are said to have taken place at Epstein’s Palm Beach office. Ferguson had also reportedly planned a third visit, but it did not happen.
Sarah Ferguson Faces Renewed Scrutiny
According to a report by The Telegraph, Ferguson visited Epstein during his jail work-release period in Florida, when he was allowed to leave prison for several hours a day. Epstein had served a 13-month sentence in 2008-2009 after pleading guilty to prostitution-related charges, including soliciting a minor. During this time, he was reportedly permitted to work outside prison under a supervised release programme, which was later ended in 2019 due to public criticism.
Report Claims Visits During Epstein’s Jail
Emails published as part of the US Justice Department’s release of Epstein-related files show Ferguson reaching out to him in April 2009. In one message, she wrote: "Hello Jeffrey. I am landing in Palm Beach in a couple of hours. Is there any chance on my quick layover, that I can get to have a quick cup of tea," she wrote in the email before signing off, "Love Sarah. The red Head."
Emails Reveal Shocking Details
In another email sent a week later, she expressed appreciation for Epstein and referred to him in positive terms. The message read: "I am so proud of you. Thank you [for] looking after me so well, and for the brilliance of Yanoush. I have read and devoured your email and am putting into action [what] you said. Then I will come back to you."

Later, on January 30, 2010, she sent another message expressing gratitude and closeness. It said: "I really don't have the words to describe my love, gratitude for your generosity and kindness. Xx I am at your service. Just marry me."
While the claims have surfaced again, Ferguson had previously said she regrets her association with Epstein. In an April 2012 interview with the Evening Standard, she said, "I abhor pedophilia and any sexual abuse of children and know that this was a gigantic error of judgment on my behalf."
