Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has made major revelations about his past interactions with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. He admitted that he had affairs with three women and claimed that Epstein may have tried to use information about those relationships against him.

Gates Makes Major Claims About Epstein

The revelations were made during a closed-door testimony before a US congressional panel. The testimony was part of the US House Oversight Committee’s investigation into Epstein’s network and connections. Lawmakers called Gates after the Justice Department released additional documents that renewed attention on his past relationship with the financier Epstein, who died in jail in 2019.

Epstein Knew About His Affairs

Gates told lawmakers that Epstein knew about two affairs involving Russian women, a bridge player Mila Antonova and nuclear physicist Karima Nigmatulina. He later acknowledged a third affair involving medical entrepreneur Alice Jacobs Nesselrodt. “These affairs had nothing to do with my interactions with Epstein, but they were painful for my family," Gates said.

"Epstein was working to use information about my infidelities in addition to many lies that he layered on top to pressure me to re-engage with him,” he added. Gates denied having any involvement in Epstein’s crimes and said staying in touch with him had been a mistake. “I know he was convicted. I knew about that. I was willing to take a chance on meeting with him in a limited role,” Gates said.

He further explained that his meetings with Epstein were mainly related to discussions about philanthropy. Gates suggested that Epstein may have considered blackmailing him after learning about his personal relationships. He told lawmakers that Epstein “contemplated blackmailing me” but added no actual blackmail took place. “He never blackmailed me, but looking at these emails, it raises a serious probability that he contemplated blackmailing me,” Gates said.

The comments were reportedly linked to a 2013 email draft written by Epstein. The draft referred to allegations involving Gates’ personal life and his former employee Boris Nikolic, who was a mutual connection between the two men. Gates described the email as an apparent attempt by Epstein to gain leverage. “Who knows if he ever sent it to Dr. Nikolic, but it looks like he’s musing on using a mixture of facts and falsities as an effort, almost like a blackmail, to advance some goal,” Gates said.

Gates On STD Claims

Lawmakers also questioned Gates about claims in documents related to Epstein that suggested he was worried about having a sexually transmitted disease (STD) after an affair. Gates strongly denied the allegation and said he had never secretly provided medication to anyone. “I never had an STD... I may have indicated some concern about whether I had an STD; I don’t recall that. But I never had an STD. I never gave medicines to anyone covertly,” Gates said.

Why Gates Kept Meeting Epstein?

However, he added that he may have discussed such concerns with Nikolic, a common friend. According to Gates, he met Epstein around 12 to 14 times and had two video calls with him over a four-year period. Documents released by the Justice Department show that the two continued to meet even after Epstein’s 2008 conviction on sex offence charges.

Gates said Epstein repeatedly claimed he could help connect him with wealthy donors for charitable projects, but those promises never materialised. Emails released by the Justice Department in January also showed communication between Epstein and members of the foundation’s staff. The documents also included photographs of Gates with several women whose identities were redacted.
