Iran-Israel War: As the Iran-Israel conflict intensifies with cross-border strikes, an explosion occurred at the US embassy in Oslo early on Sunday. The blast caused minor damage but fortunately no injuries. Eyewitnesses reported seeing smoke rising from the scene, as noted by Reuters, quoting Norwegian authorities.
The explosion, which was heard loudly around 1 am local time, took place near the embassy compound in western Oslo.
A spokesperson for the police, Mikael Dellemyr, informed public broadcaster NRK, "We've determined that an explosion hit the American embassy," adding that it took place at the entrance to the consular section.
The cause of the explosion and those responsible are still unclear, according to a statement from the Oslo police.
The embassy did not immediately responded to requests for comment outside normal business hours, and the US State Department also did not provide an immediate statement.
