Bangladesh: A Hindu man in Bangladesh was lynched by a mob in Mymensingh city on Thursday night following allegations of blasphemy, leading to a massive outrage. Dipu Chandra Das, the deceased, worked as a factory worker and was attacked by his co-workers after the allegations spread rapidly within the factory premises. An angry mob surrounded the victim and beat him severely, leading to his tragic death. The officials reportedly stated that the mob placed his dead body near a highway and set it on fire. Bangladesh chief advisor Muhammad Yunus has informed that seven people have been arrested, further stating that a detailed probe has been launched into the matter.

The 25-year-old Das worked at a local factory in the Square Masterbari area of Mymensingh city to earn a living. The victim was employed at the Pioneer Knit Composite Factory and was the main breadwinner of his family, reported NDTV. He was reportedly attacked on Thursday by the crowd after being accused of hurting a community's religious sentiments.
Das died on the spot after the angry crowd beat him mercilessly for several minutes, reported the Bangladeshi Bengali newspaper Barta Bazar, citing locals. While providing details, Bhaluka Model Police Station inspector Abdul Malek stated that the victim's dead body was placed on the side of the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway, adding that it was later set on fire.

The victim's father stated that they got the information through local Facebook pages, adding that the locals informed him later about his son's killing, reported NDTV. He further stated that after killing Das, the mob also poured kerosene on his dead body and set it on fire. The Indian authorities and top politicians have condemned the act, while Bangladesh has assured that every step is being taken to punish the offenders.
