Bengaluru Metro Pink Line Update: In a major push to operations at the much-awaited Pink Line of Bengaluru Metro, the prototype trainset is expected to arrive at the Kothanur depot within the next couple of days, as the work to move this six-coach trainset is underway. According to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), the trainset will be transported by road.

The train set, which was recently introduced for Namma Metro, will be dismantled and carried on trailers from the BEML Rail Complex at New Thippasandra to the Kothanur depot, The Hindu reported, quoting BMRCL sources.

“The entire exercise is expected to take a day, though the movement will be carried out exclusively during night hours, as the transport of heavy trailers is permitted only at night within city limits,” an official was quoted as saying in the report.

BEML had unveiled the driverless metro train prototype on December 11, 2025, developed for the second phase of Namma Metro’s Phase-2 corridors, including Phase 2A and 2 B.

Namma Metro Pink Line: Stretch To Connect South Bengaluru To North

The highly anticipated Pink Line of Bengaluru Namma Metro will connect Kalena Agrahara in south Bengaluru to Nagawara in the north of Bengaluru. The Pink Line corridor will come into service in two phases by the end of 2026.

Namma Metro Pink Line Update: BMRCL To Apply For Statutory Clearance Soon

BMRCL will initiate the process of obtaining mandatory statutory clearances from the Ministry of Railways, the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO), and the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) once the trainset reaches the Kothanur depot. Officials said, “The rolling stock will undergo a series of standard tests before being cleared for passenger operations”.
