Maharashtra News: A case has been registered against a quack and his mother in Maharashtra's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district after a woman was allegedly pierced with iron nails as a cure for her infertility, The Times of India reported on Sunday. The accused have reportedly been booked under the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice, Other Inhuman and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, 2013. According to the police, the FIR was registered on the basis of a complaint lodged by the alleged victim, a 35-year-old woman.

She got married to a man residing in Gangapur tehsil of the district, the police said. As per the complainant, she received medical treatment at various places for her inability to conceive, but to no avail, TOI said in its report. In her complaint, the woman alleged that she was approached by a female relative from her in-laws' side two years ago with claims that the latter's son possesses supernatural powers and has been treating several people. The elderly woman purportedly asked the complainant and her husband to approach her son.

Heeding the suggestion, the couple started making regular visits to the quack. The quack, the woman claimed in her complaint, told her that her infertility issues arose from the spirit of a eunuch possessing her body. As part of the "treatment", the quack allegedly performed various rituals during each of the couple's visits. During one such visit on April 18, the complainant claims nails were pierced into her back and thighs.
