Lalbaug Cha Raja

Over a million people visit Lalbaug Cha Raja in 11 days, making it the most famous Ganesh Chaturthi pandal in Mumbai. The 91st edition of Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal is scheduled for this year. The deity's lifesize idol, decked with gold and silver accessories, will be placed in a setting reminiscent of a royal palace. “Within a day or two, we will unveil the first look of Lalbaugcha Raja. The mandal members are on their toes organising meetings with the police and the municipal corporation,” said mandal secretary Sudhir Salve.

Chinchpokli Cha Chintamani

In Chinchpokli, hundreds of people swarm Parel streets to see the magnificent aagman yatra of Chinckpokli Cha Chintamani, marking the beginning of Ganesh Chaturthi before the festival begins. In honour of Chinchpokli Sarvajanik Utsav Mandal's 105th anniversary, renowned sculptor Reshma Khatu has created an 18-foot idol depicting Chintamani seated in the shape of Lord Jagannath. “With the theme of Puri’s Lord Jagannath, the idol will be guarded by Hanumana and Garuda,” said mandal secretary Vasudev Sawant.

Mumbaicha Raja

The pandal of Mumbaicha Maharaja in Ganesh Gully is older than the famous Lalbaugcha Raja in the alleys of Lalbaug. The 97th anniversary celebration of Lalbaug Sarvajanik Utsav Mandal, located in Ganesh Gully, will revolve on the sacred Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain. Mumbaicha Raja, who is renowned for wearing a gigantic 5.5 kilogram gold chain, was the tallest idol in India in 1977 standing at 27 feet.

Girgaoncha Raja

Location: Nikatwari Lane, Girgaon

Girgaoncha Raja, which is commemorating its 97th year, is well-known for having one of the tallest and most environmentally friendly Ganesha idols in the nation. The idol is 25 feet tall and weighs 3.5 tons. This year, Nikatwari Lane Sarvajanik Shree Ganeshotsav Mandal, which is well-known for its avant-garde themes like sustainability and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's 350th coronation year, has chosen to focus on environmental protection rather than having a theme.
