Gangster Chhota Rajan's close aide DK Rao and two of his associates were arrested by the Mumbai Crime Branch on Friday, October 10, in connection with an extortion and threat case.
According to police, DK Rao was arrested outside the session court complex in South Mumbai on Friday evening.
“He had come for a court hearing. He was taken into custody along with his associates, Anil Sing and Mimit Ghuta. The complainant in the case had given Rs 1.5 crore to a builder, who did not return the money. The builder then got Rao to threaten the complainant. Rao will be produced in court on Saturday,” news agency PTI quoted a police official as saying.

In January, Rao and six of his associates were arrested by the Mumbai Crime Branch for allegedly attempting to extort Rs 2.5 crore from a hotelier in Mumbai’s western suburbs.
The officer added that while the incident occurred last year, the formal complaint was filed only recently, prompting the registration of an FIR and the arrests. He further stated that Rao will be produced in Court on Saturday.
Hailing from Dharavi, Rao started his criminal career in the 1990s with petty thefts before joining gangster Chhota Rajan’s gang. He was involved in extortion activities throughout Mumbai and established his own network, all while remaining loyal to Chhota Rajan.
