Pune News: A prominent jeweller in Pune has reportedly received an extortion threat running into crores of rupees, allegedly from the infamous Lawrence Bishnoi gang. While the jeweller’s identity is being kept confidential, sources suggest that they are a nationally recognised figure. Pune Police confirmed that they are currently investigating the email that claimed to be sent by Lawrence Bishnoi himself.
According to a Punekar News report, the Pune Police Crime Branch has set up multiple teams to probe the situation. Although some officers have speculated that the threat may be a hoax, prank, or a case of cyber fraud, recent violent incidents have heightened concerns within the community. The recent murder of former minister Baba Siddiqui, reportedly carried out by members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, has already generated alarm, making this new threat more unsettling.
Who is Lawrence Bishnoi?
Lawrence Bishnoi, born in 1993, is an Indian gangster who has been in prison since 2015. He faces numerous charges, including murder and extortion, which he denies. His gang is believed to comprise over 700 members and is involved in various criminal activities across the country. Among the high-profile crimes linked to his gang is the 2022 murder of singer Sidhu Moose Wala, which was claimed by his associate Goldy Brar.
