In a chilling incident, a farmer travelling on a motorcycle was attacked by a leopard near Otur on the Kalyan Nagar Highway in Maharashtra's Pune.
The incident has caused panic and raised concerns among the local communities as human-wildlife conflicts have become frequent in Pune's Junnar taluka.
The horrific incident was captured in the nearby CCTV camera, which showed the victim coming on a bike while the leopard attacked him from behind.
According to a report by Pune Pulse, the victim has been identified as Sitaram Nilesh Doke. He was going to his farm fields when the leopard suddenly pounced on him from behind.

Due to the impact of the attack, Doke lost balance and crashed on the road, sustaining serious injuries. The leopard, however, didn't stop and rushed off the road after the fall.
The victim was rushed to the Alephata Primary Health Centre, where he was receiving treatment.
The incident has reignited fear among the nearby citizens in the surrounding villages. The leopard has been seen increasingly in the area, which prompted demands for action from the authorities.
Similar encounters between humans and wild cats have also been witnessed in the past. The residents are forced to remain indoors and step out in case of necessity, especially after dark.

The report added that the authorities have confirmed the rise in activity of the leopard along the Kalyan Nagar Highway. In many cases, leopards have also died after being hit by passing vehicles.
