In an unfortunate incident, as many as 10 students were injured after a van they were travelling in fell off a bridge in Maharashtra's Bhandara district.

The van, which was taking students from the school, fell off the bridge while the driver was trying to avoid potholes.  The tragic incident took place at Surewara when the children were heading him in a van after school. The road was full of potholes.

While avoiding them, the driver lost control and the vehicles fell off a low bridge. The injured children were rushed to the district hospital.

The visual from the site shows people making the rescue efforts. The incident highlights the grave condition of the road as the incident could have turned uglier.

Bhandara is well known as the "district of lakes" for its as it has nearly 3,500 lakes, which are centuries old. The residents have often used the district's identity to mock the civic official while comparing the potholes filled with water, especially during the rainy season and the lakes.

14 injured in Kerala school bus collision

In a similar incident in Kerala's Kochi, around 14 people, including several students, were injured after two school buses collided at Koothattukulam in Kochi on Thursday, police said.

The accident took place at around 4:00 PM at Kotholipeedika when the buses of St Philomena's Public School and Junior College, Elanji, and St Kuriakose Public School, Njeezhoor, Kaduthuruthy, collided at a traffic junction.

The police said that the collision occurred when one of the buses was entering the main road and struck another bus approaching from the opposite direction. The front portions of both vehicles were damaged due to the impact.
