Maharashtra News: A clash broke out in Maharashtra's Jalgaon district on Wednesday leading to the implementation of a curfew. The dispute began when an argument broke out between the driver of a minister's car and locals over the honking horn. This argument gradually escalated into a full-fledged conflict, leading to violent clashes.
According to the police, after the incident, there was arson and vandalism. A police officer stated that the actual dispute started late Tuesday night in the Kasaiwada area of Palthi village. State Minister Gulabrao Patil's car was passing through Kasaiwada area. The driver honked the horn and asked people to give way that led to an argument between the driver and locals.
Gulab Raghunath Patil, a Shiv Sena leader and the incumbent minister for water supply and sanitation, was not present in the vehicle, but a family member was travelling in it.
While the altercation ended at the spot, some persons from the locality later went to a village square and protested, the official said.
Another group then arrived there, leading to clashes till early in the morning. Several shops in the village were burnt.
Additional police personnel, State Reserve Police Force and Riot Control Police teams alongside fire brigade vehicles were deployed in the village, he said, adding that the situation was now under control.
