Pune News: In a major advancement for food safety and quality, ten railway stations in the Pune division have received the “Eat Right Station” certification from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).

According to a Hindustan Times report, the “Eat Right Station” certification is part of the broader Eat Right India initiative led by FSSAI, aimed at enhancing food safety and hygiene across railway food outlets. This initiative covers a variety of food service providers, from large catering units like restaurants and food courts to smaller vendors and kiosks.
Suresh Annapure, joint commissioner of the Food and Drugs Administration in Pune, stated that food handlers at these stations must complete training through FSSAI’s Food Safety Training and Certification (FoSTaC) programme. Following this, a third-party audit is conducted to ensure compliance with food safety standards, which is essential for obtaining the certification.
This initiative was implemented under the guidance of Maharashtra's FDA commissioner, Rajesh Narvekar and aims to assure passengers of safe and hygienic food options while traveling.
