A woman was arrested in Navi Mumbai for allegedly running a prostitution racket at a shopping mall in Maharashtra's Navi Mumbai, police said on Thursday. The 40-year-old woman was allegedly operating the racket from a spa at the popular mall in the Vashi area. Police have also rescued two victims who were forced into the flesh trade by the woman.
Police acting on a tip-off received by a source, sent a fake customer to the spa on Tuesday evening and found two women, aged around 20, who were working at the outlet and being forced into the sex* trade, Navi Mumbai anti-human trafficking cell's senior police inspector Prithviraj Ghorpade said.
Police arrested the accused who was running the spa and was also allegedly pushing them into prostitution, the official said. The two victims were also sent to a rescue home where they are currently staying, he added.

Police initiated an investigation and filed a case against the accused woman under section 370 (trafficking of person), section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and provisions of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.

In another incident, two people were arrested and a 14-year-old girl from Bangladesh was rescued from a prostitution racket in Navi Mumbai last week. Police said that they carried out a raid on a residential society in the Taloja area of the city after they received a tip-off by a decoy and rescued the girl successfully.
"Two persons identified as Samon Shaikh and Mohinoor Mandal were arrested and a 14-year-old girl, who hails from Bangladesh, was rescued. A case has been registered under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act," Taloja police station Sub Inspector Suresh Kurhade said.
