Pune Weather Update: Several parts of Pune and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar will experience thunderstorms with lightning, considerable rainfall, and gusty winds on Tuesday, May 20, according to a nowcast warning issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Mumbai.
In a statement issued at 2:00 PM, the IMD said, "Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and moderate spells of rain with gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Sambhajinagar and Pune during the next 3-4 hours."
Residents have been advised by the agency to exercise caution while going outside. "People are advised to stay indoors during thunderstorm activity and avoid open areas or sheltering under trees," the statement added.
The warning coincides with the ongoing pre-monsoon activity in Maharashtra, where stormy weather and unseasonable rains have been observed in various areas in recent days.

Unseasonal rainfall has been lashing the state of Maharashtra over the past few days, causing significant damage to crops and dealing a severe blow to farmers. In a fresh update, the Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall expected to continue over the next three days.
In light of this forecast, authorities have urged citizens to remain alert and take necessary precautions.
The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for the Konkan region tomorrow, May 21, warning of the possibility of extremely heavy rainfall. An orange alert has also been issued for Vidarbha, Marathwada, and North Maharashtra for the next two days, indicating the likelihood of heavy rain in these areas.
