Maharashtra Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for four districts and a yellow alert for 29 districts in Maharashtra, as unseasonal rainfall continues to lash the state. Pune, Satara, Sangli, and Solapur have been placed under orange alert, indicating the likelihood of heavy to very heavy rainfall.

A yellow alert signalling moderate rain and stormy weather has been issued for Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Palghar, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Dhule, Nashik, Ahilyanagar, Kolhapur, Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur, Dharashiv, Akola, Amravati, Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha, Yavatmal, and Washim.

As forecasted by the weather department, several regions in Maharashtra are experiencing intense and sudden downpours, with cloudburst-like rainfall reported in parts of Beed district. In the Ralsangvi area of Ashti taluka, a sudden cloudburst led to heavy flooding in the local river, cutting off road access to four villages as water flowed over a bridge.

Pune city has also been witnessing a spell of unseasonal heavy rain for the third consecutive day. The weather had been cloudy for the past two days, and today saw increased intensity with thunder, lightning, and sleet, particularly affecting areas like Pashan, Aundh, Sinhagad Road, Katraj, Baner, and Shivajinagar. The rainfall brought down temperatures significantly. The IMD has maintained a yellow alert for Pune district over the next two days, predicting light to moderate showers accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching 30 to 50 km/h.

Shirdi city was hit by unseasonal showers with lightning, while Kolhapur district experienced heavy rains and strong winds across many of its parts. The sudden downpour has disrupted daily life in several areas, stranding commuters and residents. Thunderstorms and lightning strikes were also reported in isolated places, adding to the severity of the weather situation.

With the alerts in place and rains expected to continue, authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious, avoid waterlogged areas, and stay updated with official weather advisories.
