Maharashtra Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday stated that several districts are likely to receive light to heavy rainfall till July 8. The weather department informed that the rainfall will reduce the maximum temperature by two to four degrees Celsius, providing major relief from the scorching heat. It further stated that while the coastal regions are likely to witness heavy rainfall, other regions are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall. Apart from this, these regions are also likely to witness thunderstorms and gusty winds in the upcoming days. The IMD has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.

While providing details, the weather department stated that while the central region is likely to receive heavy rain, Mumbai and other nearby regions are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall. "Widespread rainfall activity with heavy to Very Heavy rainfall at a few places is very likely over Konkan and ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra during the period," the IMD stated. The IMD has issued an orange alert for several regions, including the ghats region, Thane, Palghar, Raigad and Ratnagiri.

Apart from this, the weather department issued a yellow alert for the capital city Mumbai and nearby regions. While the maximum temperature is likely to be calculated at 31 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature will remain around 26 degrees Celsius. These regions are also likely to witness lightning and thunder accompanied by occasional gusty winds reaching 45-55 kmph this period.

The weather department also stated that several key cities are likely to witness waterlogging due to heavy rain. Apart from this, it further stated that multiple other states, including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh, are expected to witness rain in the upcoming days. The weather department also stated that the heat is likely to make a comeback after seven to eight days.
