Mumbai Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall warning for Mumbai and an orange alert for Pune, forecasting heavy downpours over the next twenty-four hours. This alert comes as the monsoon season begins in Mumbai, arriving nearly two weeks ahead of its usual start, marking one of the earliest onsets in recent history. Additionally, a red alert has been sounded for four districts in Maharashtra including Satara, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Kolhapur.

In Mumbai, residents can expect a cloudy sky accompanied by heavy rain, with temperatures ranging from 24 to 31 degrees Celsius. The forecast indicates that rainfall will persist, with scattered to widespread light to moderate showers, thunderstorms and gusty winds anticipated across Konkan, Goa and Madhya Maharashtra from May 27 to June 2.

Maharashtra Weather Forecast

Furthermore, the IMD has released a detailed monsoon forecast for Maharashtra, indicating that all four meteorological regions including Konkan & Goa, Central Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha—are expected to experience above-normal rainfall from June to September. Central India, including Maharashtra and South Peninsular India are also forecasted to receive above-average rainfall this monsoon season.

Central Maharashtra and Marathwada are predicted to see the highest rainfall at 110 per cent and 112 per cent of normal levels, respectively. Vidarbha is expected at 109 per cent, while Konkan & Goa will likely receive 107 per cent. Overall, Maharashtra is gearing up for a wetter-than-average monsoon.

Pune 5-Day Weather Forecast

In Pune, the five-day forecast shows generally cloudy skies with ongoing rainfall. From May 29 to June 2, temperatures will range between 22 and 30 degrees Celsius, with moderate rain expected on May 29 and lighter showers on May 30 and 31. The rain is anticipated to intensify slightly on June 1 and 2, keeping conditions wet throughout the period.
