Mumbai Mega Block On Sunday: There will be train service interruptions on Sunday, August 18, on the Western Railway (WR) and Central Railway (CR) as a result of planned maintenance. The 5th and 6th lines between Thane and Diva on the Central Railway's mainline will see maintenance work between 10:50 AM and 3:20 PM. There will be delays for passengers on the Harbour line as well.
There will be a block between CSMT-Chunabhatti and Bandra from 11:10 AM to 4:40 PM. Special trains will operate every 20 minutes between Kurla and Panvel during this period. As an alternative, travelers on the Harbour Line can use the Main Line and Western Railway trains from 10 AM to 6 PM. On the Western Railway, rapid lines between Goregaon and Santacruz stations will be closed for five hours between 10 AM and 3 PM due to maintenance.
All fast trains between these stations will run on the slow lines at this time. Certain rail services might be delayed or cancelled. To prevent disruption, travellers are recommended to check for updates and adjust their travel plans appropriately.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, August 13, Mumbai's Metro Line One, popularly called the Blue Line (Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar), surpassed 500,000 passengers every day, marking a new milestone in the city's transportation history. This accomplishment is made ten years after the line's inception.
Officials claim that this is the first time the Blue Line has had more than 500,000 commuters per day without external disturbances, such as the January 2019 BEST bus strike.
At important stations like Andheri, Ghatkopar, Saki Naka, and Western Express Highway—where the Blue Line links with suburban trains, Metro 7, Metro 2A, and numerous business and office areas—there has been a noticeable increase in passengers.
The Blue Line carried between 400,000 and 450,000 passengers on weekdays in 2023. Ridership climbed marginally to 450,000–460,000 by early 2024. The number of riders per day as of August 13, 2024, was 500,385.
