A biker died after his two-wheeler collided with a BEST bus in Mumbai’s eastern suburb Govandi on Saturday. The incident occurred near the Shivaji Nagar junction, where the impact of the bus’ rear-right tyre caused severe head injuries to the 25-year-old biker, identified as Vinod Dikshit. This marks the third fatal incident involving BEST buses in less than a week.
Police stated that Vinod was riding his motorcycle when he crashed into the bus, which was travelling from Shivaji Nagar to Kurla. Following the accident, a crowd gathered at the scene and accompanied Dikshit to Rajawadi Hospital but he was declared dead on arrival.
Authorities confirmed that the collision occurred as the bus struck Dikshit’s bike, causing him to fall under the vehicle. His death resulted from the severe injuries sustained during the impact.

This incident follows two other deadly accidents involving BEST buses. On December 9, an electric bus in Kurla crashed into pedestrians and vehicles, killing seven people and injuring 43 others. The driver, Sanjay More, was arrested after it was discovered that he lacked experience operating electric vehicles. Authorities are investigating whether the driver deliberately caused the crash.
In another incident on Wednesday, a 55-year-old man was killed by a BEST bus near CSMT after being knocked down by a motorbike. The series of accidents has raised concerns over safety standards involving BEST buses. Investigations into these incidents are ongoing.
